Things to Do in Abbotsford

With great shopping, a fine choice of restaurants and beautiful country landscapes, Abbotsford lives up to its nickname the "City in the Country."

Those looking for activities in the scenic countryside will find much to see and do in Abbotsford. The Circle Farm tour is one of the best ways to see a large selection of farms in Abbotsford that sell farm fresh produce and products.

Abbotsford has a number of heritage buildings and neighborhoods like the Historic Downtown and Clayburn Village. These districts are visited on the city's Arts, Culture and Heritage tours.

There are also several home studios and galleries in the area. The Kariton Gallery in Mill Lake Park displays pieces from several Abbotsford artists. The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford features many innovative exhibits and holds classes and workshops on a regular basis.

Abbotsford's scenic countryside and parklands provide great spaces for outside fun and recreation.  Residents head to Albert Dyck Memorial Park to water-ski, swim and fish. Amateur astronomers love McDonald Park for stargazing away from the bright lights of the city. Mill Lake, at the city's centre, is ideal for a picnic, volleyball game or an afternoon canoe trip. The park is also the location of Art in the Park in the summer. And hikers and mountain bikers love Sumas Mountain Regional Park.

Two of the most popular annual events are also very unique to the city. The Abbotsford Agri-Fair is an annual celebration of the city's agricultural heritage. The fair also includes thrilling carnival rides, a rodeo and other entertainment.

The annual Abbotsford International Airshow is the largest annual event in Abbotsford. Crowds from all over the Lower Mainland marvel at the aerobatics by the several well-known national and international performers. Past participants have included the Canadian Forces Snowbirds and the USAF Thunderbirds.

Fun for all ages can be found at Abbotsford's Castle Fun Park. The family-oriented theme park along the Trans-Canada Highway attracts residents from all over the Lower Mainland for a round of mini golf, Go Kart racing and hours of entertainment in the arcade.

Those looking for an adrenaline rush will definitely find it at the Abbotsford Skydive Centre. Whether jumping in tandem or solo, the view of Abbotsford from 12,500 feet is unlike any other in the area.
