New Research Reveals the Positive Effects of Massage Therapy

Thursday, June 21, 2012

Evidence continues to grow demonstrating the effectiveness of massage therapy for those suffering from various joint and muscle pains.

Massage therapy may be one of the best treatments for athletes and active individuals with sore muscles from strenuous exercise. Recent findings from two North American studies indicated that massage acts similarly to the use of anti-inflammatory medications.

The Annals of Internal Medicine also published details about the positive impact of massage therapy on chronic back pain. According to the research, participants who had massage treatments were twice as likely to report significant improvements in both their pain and ability to function compared to those receiving other traditional methods of care. Massage also helped reduce the amount of over-the-counter medications that patients used.

As interest grows in the benefits of massage therapy, there will be a greater demand for well-trained professionals who can provide a range of treatments. Those interested in pursuing a career in massage therapy will get a well-rounded education in the Registered Massage Therapy program at Vancouver Career College.
