New program now available in Abbotsford and Kelowna

Kelowna, BC – September 25, 2012 – With demand for well-trained event planners on the rise, Vancouver Career College is launching a new Event Planner program at campuses in Abbotsford and Kelowna.

“More than 66% of BC’s job openings over the next ten years will result from retirements,” said Larry Heinzlmeir, VP of Marketing for Vancouver Career College. “Those openings create opportunities for well-trained professionals to make their mark on the industry.”

WorkBC, the authority on the province’s job market, echoes Heinzlmeir’s sentiments. Statistics predict positive employment prospects for event planning professionals over the next few years thanks to bright, new facilities like the Vancouver Convention Centre, BC Place and several state of the art community centres. As British Columbia continues to garner international praise as a tourist destination, more large scale business conferences and festivals are looking to BC as well.

Students enrolled in the Event Planner program at Vancouver Career College will cover a broad range of subjects, preparing them to take on any event a client may present. In addition to covering topics like theme parties, catering, live entertainment management and marketing, students will build a strong foundation in areas like bookkeeping, risk management and human resources management. A number of aspects of the event planning business will be covered in the program to ensure students have a well-rounded education upon graduation.

Students will also complete several event planning projects in the final weeks of their program. They will take on both team and solo projects to put their skills into practice, further preparing them for their new careers.

Vancouver Career College is currently accepting applications for the Event Planner program at its campuses in Abbotsford and Kelowna. For more information, fill out the form to your right or call 1.877.607.7819. Vancouver Career College can also be found on Facebook and Twitter.
