Teaching English as a Second Language - TESL

Teaching English is a fun and rewarding career that can take you around the world. Vancouver Career College's Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) program gives students the skills and knowledge to enter this exciting and fulfilling field.

 

The Teaching English as a Second Language program trains students in the most effective teaching techniques, including interactive activities and games. This program includes a practicum placement that will prepare them to enter the job market. Students also learn about job search techniques specific to this industry.

 

 

This program is recognized by TESL Canada and graduates are eligible for TESL Canada Professional Certificate Standard Two.

 

 

Admission Requirements

 

  • High school graduation or equivalent, or mature student status (19 years of age upon starting classes).
  • English 12: 70% or equivalent (see English Language Proficiency Scores at www.tesl.ca).

 

This program has been approved by the registrar of the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training.

 

 

NOTE: If you elect to be certified by TESL Canada, to be eligible for a TESL Canada Professional Certificate, you must provide evidence of completion of an undergraduate degree at an accredited postsecondary institution. (Applicants with a degree from outside of Canada must provide Canadian equivalency from a credential evaluation service.)


This program is 24 weeks in length if taken part-time.

This program is 13 weeks in length.
