Newly re-vamped Practical Nursing program now accepting applications

Burnaby, BC – June 26, 2012 – Vancouver Career College is now accepting applications for their revitalized Practical Nursing program. Classes start July 23, 2012 at Vancouver Career College in Burnaby.

With an enhanced focus on the art and science of nursing, and laboratory and clinical experience, the Practical Nursing program at Vancouver Career College prepares graduates to enter one of the fastest growing and in-demand fields in healthcare.

“The newly re-vamped Practical Nursing program will prepare grads to meet the growing demands of practical nurses in the field,” says Larry Heinzlmeir, VP of Marketing for Vancouver Career College. “As more healthcare professionals get ready to retire, our grads will be ready to take on those roles.”

For people with an interest in the medical field and a desire to change lives, there are few jobs out there as rewarding as nursing. With a comprehensive foundation in patient care, the nurse-patient relationship, medication administration, and clinical decision-making, Practical Nursing students prepare to become valuable members of an effective healthcare team.

In addition to coursework with experienced nursing teachers, students have multiple opportunities to develop, integrate and demonstrate their knowledge through real-world laboratory and clinical experiences. With this powerful combination, students learn how to manage and prevent disease and illness and promote good health across the lifespan, as well as make a difference in the lives and well-being of patient’s families, and communities.

Few professions offer as many opportunities and areas of specialty as practical nursing. At Vancouver Career College, students study and practice the competencies and standards established by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia, the regulatory authority for licensed practical nurses in the province. Students also study the healthcare challenges of today’s communities and alternative remedies for diversifying into different areas of nursing, such as mental illness, developmental disabilities, acute disease and aging.

Nurses have a lasting impact on people’s lives, and graduates are not limited to the hospital setting. Today, nurses practice in hundreds of different venues, such as home care, ambulatory care centers, schools, and anywhere in the community that people need healthcare.
