The number of services that are available a college campuses might surprise some students, especially when they find out just how many of them are completely free. While learning is the students top priority, there are other departments that may be useful to them at various points throughout their programs. One of these is the career services centre.

Get on the Career Track
Most students want to land a job after graduation, having a clear idea of the type of employer they want to work for early on will help them identify they  companies to apply to when the time comes.

What Career Centres Offer
From mock interviews and resume reviews to current job postings, the career services department helps students with a number of different professional pointers. The career services staff may also help students find relevant practicum opportunities in their city. Whether they're preparing for a future in practical nursing or addictions and community services work, students can meet with knowledgeable professionals and learn about the types of places to complete their practicum placements and apply to work.

Develop Solid Connections
The career service centre can also be a source of job leads for alumni. Staff can connect with the grads as often as necessary and inform them of relevant opportunities that may appeal to them since they left school. Colleges often form strong relationships with a number of different organizations, which means that students and alumni can hear about potential openings before the organization advertises them to the public.
