Book Lovers Day

Women's Equality Day

Women's Equality Day is celebrated to commemorate the 1920 adoption of the Nineteenth Amendment, which prohibits denying the right to vote to citizens of the United States based on gender.

National Beach Day
August 30, 2022

National Beach Day celebrates the beauty of beaches and encourages people to participate in beach clean-up parties to help save wildlife.

Overdose Awareness Day
August 31, 2022

It is a day to remember those who have fallen victim to overdose and those who have come out of the dark hole victorious with the help of loved ones. In addition, the day aims to reduce the stigma attached.

Abbotsford Practical Nurses: Mental Health Awareness Presentations

Our Practical Nursing program gathered staff and students on the campus on July 19th to learn about various mental disorders. Their presentations included Bulimia Nervosa, Bipolar Disorder, Dissociative identity disorder and Munchausen Syndrome. The presentations were well educated, full of facts, and presented professionally and confidently. Significant work, Cohort 21! More Photos from that day here.

Welcoming New Students to the Abbotsford Campus

On July 25th, these new students began their journey toward their future careers. Students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program, and others in the Practical Nursing program. Shelley Bell from career services led them in orientation and gave everyone backs packs and water bottles as part of our Welcoming Package! We can't wait to watch them grow into their new careers!

Free Local Resources for Students at the Abbotsford Library

The Abbotsford Library offers many FREE services that you may find helpful: quiet study spaces with Wi-Fi, printing & photocopying, and a catalogue of adult learning materials (ADLs) that can help improve your English reading and writing skills. If you struggle with technology, you can "Book a Librarian" for a 30-minute appointment to have someone assist you with your basic computer questions. Info here

Shelleys Corner - How to take feedback positively

Hearing we’ve made a mistake doesn’t feel good. Studies have shown our brains overreact to criticism! Our hearts race, muscles tense, and BP rises. But feedback is necessary for growth! In the Harvard Business Review, Peter Bergman says that feedback “can be an incredible gift, a field guide for acting with impact in the world.” Learn to use feedback to improve yourself! The person giving you feedback cares enough to help you.
