October 2021 Abbotsford Newsletter

October is the tenth and one of the funnest months of the year. Its a month crammed with two Holliday events, Thanksgiving and Halloween. The weather may cool itself down, yet we still get sunshine and beautiful days with colorful leaves piled on the ground to jump into. Rich colors of orange red and gold surround us!


October 31, 2021

Halloween brings out the ghouls and goblins, creatures, and strange folk. They come creeping about the neighbourhood seeking favours over trickery. People of all ages look forward to Halloween traditions.

National Stop Bullying Day
October 13, 2021

This annual designation promotes standing up against and put an end to bullying. No child should be afraid to ride a bus or go to school because a classmate threatens them.

October 11, 2021

Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day is an annual Canadian holiday, held on the second Monday in October, which celebrates the harvest and other blessings of the past year

Campus Closed on Monday October 11, 2021

Our campus will be closed on Monday, October 11, 2021 for Thanksgiving. Enjoy the long weekend!


October 11th is Thanksgiving Day. In Canada has been a holiday on the second Monday of October since 1957. Please spend time with your family and friends also, it is a chance for people to give thanks for a good harvest and other fortunes in the past year.


This year we're giving away treats and no tricks! The rules are simple: Tag two friends in the comments that you'd share candy with and enter to win $50 worth of delicious snacks and Halloween candy each from Amazon. Full contest details here.

Locked Up For Love Fundraiser

On September 25th our Campus held a Fundraiser for 7-month-old Rennah’s heart transplant that raised $16,000.  Alison Patchet led her social services work class in gathering donations & organized the event. It was amazing seeing our local community out supporting our Students' family in their time of need.

Orange Shirt Day

On September 29th the Students of the Abbotsford Campus held a walk to honour the day of Truth and Reconciliation complete with traditional  Drumming by our very own student Jeff and his son. Alison and her Social Services Worker Class led our Campus through the streets of Central Abbotsford.

Collecting for Care Packages

Starting October 18th the Social Work class will be joining with Street Thug Barbers in collecting items for individual care packages for those in need. If you have questions please reach out to reception or Alison. Items that are being sought out are listed here.
