April 2021 Surrey Newsletter

The month of April is recognized as Autism Awareness Month. The goal of this month is to help in the building of stronger, more inclusive communities for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviours, speech and nonverbal communication, as well as by unique strengths and differences. We now know that there is not one autism but many types, caused by different combinations of genetic and environmental influences. To learn more about it, visit: https://www.autismspeaks.ca/about/about-autism/
